It all started when he was gifted with a Packard Bell DSC200 digital camera by one of his relatives moving abroad, he was 13 then. He often hung out clicking randomly. It was not unlikely of someone to observe him and think that he would live to shoot and shoot to live, later. Some while later, SR Das, the former headmaster of the Doon School, where Shubhojit was himself educated from middle to highschool, gifted him with a Pentax Asahi K body and a 35-105 f/3.5 lens. It served as if a  huge step towards the understanding of basic fundamentals of light. It was not until he was 17 years old, that he was invited into the professional sphere. At the age of 17, he became a member of the "Professional Fashion Photographer's Association, Hong Kong". His first professional assignment was for a coffee table book on the Indian Military Academy which was distributed globally. Shubhojit however then, shifted himself exclusively to fashion and glamour photography.
